Week-end Getaway – Van Gogh, Kandinsky and the Dodgers

image

The weatherman tells me this week-end will be glorious. The skies will be clear and temperatures will be in the 90’s.  Our plan is to see the “Van Gogh to Kandinsky” exhibit at LACMA, then spend the remainder of our time by the pool and/or listening to Dodgers baseball on the radio.

Whatever your plans I wish you a lovely Saturday and Sunday!

Musings on Slim

image Vacation. One of the most lyrical words in our language, at least for me. It’s something to be anticipated and coveted. A chance to break free from the mundane and ordinary and embark on new adventures and a new way of living, if only for a few days.

On Monday I leave for vacation and I’m nearly counting the hours. Let me be clear. My idea of a wonderful vacation involves nothing more complicated than sitting by a beach or pool soaking in the warmth of the sun. My inspirations are Slim Aarons’ iconic “Poolside” photographs.

It’s just a short short drive up the coast but a world away from the various pressures of real life. Vacation, are you ready for me? Because here I come!

Week-end Escape

Visiting the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, or LACMA,
is always an engaging and mind expanding experience.

I’ll be there this week-end  to see the DVF exhibit “Journey of a Dress”
one more time before it closes on April 1st.

Of course there are always many exceptional programs
being presented at any given time at LACMA.
For example, “Calder and Abstraction”, “The Director’s Series”‘
“Living and Sustaining a Creative Life”, and “The Art of Looking.”

While you’re there be sure to stop by Ray’s or Stark’s Bar for a delicious lunch or dinner or a glass of wine from their exceptional wine list.
The menu is constantly evolving so you’ll usually see something different each time you’re there.

The LACMA store carries a vast array of interesting books and
objets d’art and it’s definitely worth a visit.

LACMA is located at 5905 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles.
